TOP KNOTCH

The Top Knotch studio and record label was located next door to Gospel Time and Talk of the Town at 406 West Pascagoula Street, Jackson, Mississippi. Where the two neighbors stopped releasing and recording around 1985, it was around that same time that Top Knotch started. Ain't that peculiar?

There certainly was some overlap between Gospel Time and Top Knotch. For instance, The Greenvillettes released a 45 on Gospel Time and had their album released on Top Knotch. We don't know who the owners were of Top Knotch. What we do know is that only a few albums were released on the Top Knotch label, but that the Top Knotch studio was used by several local and regional gospel labels like J&B, AIR and Southern Breeze.
