SONGBIRD
SongBird was a subsidiary of Peacock Records from Houston, TX. It's owner Don Robey had a reputation of being a unscrupulous business man. Despite his reputation and business practices Robey created with SongBird and Peacock two of the powerhouses in gospel music. SongBird was established in 1963 and Robey issued albums and 45s on SongBird till 1973 when ABC/Dunhill purchased all of Robey's labels. ABC/Dunhill remained releasing music on SongBird till 1978 when it closed all of the labels they had bought from Don Robey.
