H.O.B. (House Of Beauty) Carmen Murphy stared in 1959 in the backroom of her Detroit beauty parlor the record label House Of Beauty. She didn’t only issue Gospel but also some early-Soul on her other labels. H.O.B. turned from a local label on a shoestring budget into a Gospel powerhouse from the moment New York’s Scepter-Wand took over the distribution somewhere around 1963. Sceper-Wand owner Florence Greenberg started pulling at more and more strings at H.O.B. resulting in a take-over by Scepter-Wand in 1968. In order to keep discographies to a acceptable size they are split into four sections. The first is the ‘100 series’ starting at the moment where Scepter-Wand took over responsibilities for distribution. This series runs from app. 1963-1968. Secondly the ‘1300 series’, running from 1968 to 1973. The third series runs from 1974 to 1976 and is the ‘13000 series’. And the fourth list is the LP discography
