SENSATIONAL AIRES

of Lexington, NC

Herbert Ingram formed the Sensational Aires or Sensational-Aires in 1968. And as with so many groups members came and went. Ingram and Willard Bennett were the only two remaining members of the first line-up who were still a member in 1990. In 1972 they released their first 45 on the North Carolina based Revelation label. This one was shortly followed with a second release on Revelation. With more Revelation labels around this first release is sometimes listed as a 1959 release. Several years later they had their second release on the tiny Avanti label out of North Carolina. This one was followed in the (early?) 1980s with a release on ASL. In 1979 they released their first album on the then Nashville based HSE label. In the second half of the 1980s they recorded their second album. This time on the Nasha label out of Memphis. It was back to a Nashville based label in 1990 for their third album which was released on T-Jaye.

So far we haven't found any releases by the Sensational Aires in the period 1990 - 2010. What we do know is that they are still active performing in the Carolinas under the leadership of Herbert Ingram.
