The PRAYER WHEELS |

Their only album is “We’re In Heaven At Last” (HOB LP 2158) from 1973. It is certainly not a bad album. Their sound is different from many other groups of that time, because the Prayer Wheels use on most of the tracks congas adding a bit of Latin/Carribean flavour. Their vocal harmonies is a balancing act between the gospel vocal harmonies of the fifties and the sweet soul vocal groups of the early seventies. And they keep it nicely balanced creating a nice sweet sound. The only exception to this is “All He Wants Is You”, my favourite song of the album, where the lead is a bit on the harder side. On the back of the album only four of the members’ names are mentioned: Reginald Bryant, Carl Jones, Ruel Brown and Rupert Phayme. We’ll probably never know who the other two gentlemen are.
